      3. Announcements
        1. Gioia announced that You@LAU will take place from April 28th till May 2nd.
        2. - The Computer Science departments will have 2 booths; one for Computer Science while the other for Bioinformatics.
        3. - On the CS booth, there will be brochures and 2 screens on which we can present games, sources codes and their results..
        4. - BioInformatics booth will contain brochures and molecular models.
        5. - Those interested in the major, will be taken to a certain room where they’ll watch a documentary and ask questions.
        6. - Each year the official ACM Chapter offer worldwide ACM clubs Excellence Awards for: best website, civic engagement, membership program, etc…
        7. - Our club is competing for the best website title.
        8. - Teams of 3 must be formed for those willing to participate in this year’s ACM’s ACPC (Arab Collegiate Programming Contest).
        9. - We have to represent our campus this year.
        10. - On the 16th of June there will be a competition between Lebanese teams to represent their country in the Arab competition later on.
      4. Guest Speaker
        1. We were surprised by a guest speaker, Dr. Marthe Kassouf, who has a PhD in Computer Science from McGill and works at HydroQuebec, the only power supplier in Quebec.
        2. - She helped explain and answer questions about the link between the industry and academia using her personal experience.
        3. - She mentioned that there is no specific level of knowledge and experience that one must have to enter the field; “ It all depends on what you want”.
        4. - The Bachelor degree plays an important role in developing one’s logic: understanding the hypothesis and putting constraint to the problem
        5. - Artificial Intelligence is one of the promising fields.
        6. - A Masters Degree is but an Application of Research, while a PhD is Research( In McGill, it takes 5 years to complete a PhD on average)
        7. - Some people aim toward Academia in their research; others toward the industry.
        8. Answering the question : What does the industry look for in a job candidate? , Dr. Kassouf highlighted the importance of having a high GPA.

      4. Formality Debate
        1. - Some members complained about the being formality within the club and suggested that the meetings become more casual.
        2. Gioia doesn’t agree since there already are formalities within the university and the Official ACM chapter so we must conform to that. In addition, it helps us become more organized when planning events or writing reports, especially for the website.
      5. Announcements
        1. Gioia, announced herself as the official Faculty Sponsor of the club
        2. Mr. Joe Khalife is the advisor of the club
        3. Dr. Harmanani helps the club with its relations with the university.
        4. - Club was on probation since the club’s annual report wasn’t delivered on time, but thanks to Dr. Harmanani, things are fine now
        5. Mohammad, with the help of Joseph ,will give a presentation/workshop on Web development next week on Wednesday the 26th at 12:00-1:00 and Friday the 28th at 12:00-1:00 . An email will be sent.
        6. Chafic’s Git/Github Workshop is planned to take place after Test 1 is over. (Time will be specified later on).
        7. Richard had a great event idea that involves hiking and programming where we hike up a mountain while carrying our laptops until we reach a certain area where we sit down and write code.
        8. Chemil added that we can create something related to the hiking trip like a GUI for a map for example.
        9. Charif suggested that we organize a treasure hunt on the trip, where we find hints and items through coding.

      8. ACM WEBSITE LAUNCH
        1. - Last but not least, the club’s website was shown to the members.
        2. - It is not officially launched yet; the content is being filled up
        3. - The website is designed by Ryan Abi, the club’s graphic designer.
        4. - It is developed by Charbel Daoud and Roudy is providing some code to help.
        5. - Hopefully, we have a chance of winning this year.
