Computer Science

Gioia is a graduate student finishing her Masters degree in Computer Science at LAU and currently working on her thesis in the field of Bioinformatics. She is also the Academic Assistant of the Computer Science and Mathematics Department at LAU, Byblos. Her tasks include assisting the Chairperson in the administration and management of the department’s affairs, helping students in their academic concerns and raising them to the Chair as well as organizing events to promote computing such as YOU@LAU, LAU’s Science & Art’s Fair, and the Computer Science Summer Institute. Always enthusiastic about ACM, Gioia has been an active member since 2008, was the Chair of the chapter during the academic year 2009-2010 and recently volunteered to be the official sponsor of the LAU Byblos chapter for the current academic year 2013-2014. In addition to being a student and a staff member in the department, Gioia was also a part-time faculty member since she has taught several introductory computer science courses and labs as part of her graduate assistantship.
