The Lebanese American University ACM chapter has 50+ members. We serve the LAU community by planning and organizing numerous academic and social events such as:

A group of high school students from different schools learned a range of IT skills during the Computer Science Summer Institute, held At LAU Byblos.Organized by the department, the program consisted of a series of guest lectures as well as practice labs led by well-informed instructors. Computer Science faculty members,alongside undergraduate students were there to help organize the event and guide the participants.After learning the fundamentals of mobile applications, the students spent the final three days developing an android app. as part of a competition to win valuable prizes and scholarships.

Over 800 high schoolers from Lebanese schools participated in various competitions during the annual Science and Arts Fair, held at LAU Byblos. The event included a science-knowledge competition, exhibition of science projects- some of which were related to the field of computing and programming.

The Computer Science and Mathematics department, both faculty and students, gathered around for the annual meeting in order to discuss the major courses provided at LAU , the problems that the students are facing, and other issues regarding the department. While mingling altogether, we were able to pinpoint all the problems that were evident throughout the department, and hopefully, they will be dealt with within the near future.

11th graders from across Lebanon attended the annual “YOU@LAU” university introduction events at LAU –Byblos in order to check out the programs available at LAU and to have a clearer view of the major they’re going to pursue when they’re done with school. ACM, under the supervision of the Computer Science department, had a booth to introduce the students to the Computer Science and the Bioinformatics majors. In order to attract the students, documentaries and student-made videos were displayed on screens. Students who were interested in the program were taken to the high performance room to have further explanation about the program.
